The workshop

A salon of stones

Whatever stone you have in mind, we can make it happen. Every cut, every colour, every shape.

From the Ponte Vecchio to Via delle Terme, the shop has been handed down within the same family: six generations, one craft.

Our story
  • A hand choosing from rings and loose stones laid out on a tray on the shop counter

  • A ring with an oval cameo carved in profile, resting on a block of crystal

  • A leaf carved from stone, with amber veining, held between two fingers

  • A pendant with a large pale faceted stone on a chain, displayed in front of the card reading Gioielleria Cesare Mannelli dal 1875

150 years in the trade

We chose 27 October in honour of Cesare Mannelli, as it was the day he died, in 1920. Of his birth we know only the year: 1836.

For our 150th anniversary we printed a booklet with the story the playwright Sem Benelli wrote about the shop on the bridge.

Pearl dust

“Why, it’s pearls!” said the goldsmith, knowing full well he meant something else, and yet telling the truth: Florentine wit.

Sem Benelli’s father was a friend of Cesare Mannelli. As a schoolboy, between morning and afternoon lessons, the future playwright would eat his lunch in the shop, and watch.
